Who We Are
 
What is CVEDC?
Champlain Valley Educator Development Center, the Educational Services Agency (ESA) for Northwestern Vermont (Chittenden, Franklin, and Grand Isle Counties). CVEDC consists of 14 supervisory unions, 2700 teachers, over 1200 paraprofessionals, and 150 administrators who provide educational services to over 32,000 students of the total PreK-12 student population of Vermont.
 
Structure of ESAs
> Build on existing consortia and collaboratives (CVEC)
> Establish strong link with Dept. of Education School Improvement Coordinators/Consolidated Federal Programs
> Involve Institutions of Higher Education and service providers within the region
> Shared decision making
 
The Purpose of ESAs
Increase Student Learning and Improve Schools by Providing High Quality Professional Development to:
> Improve teacher and paraprofessional content knowledge and pedagogy
> Increase teacher leadership
> Improve leadership of principals and superintendents
> Improve school culture and organizational effectiveness
 
Organizing Concepts
> Focused on student learning
> Guided by student data
> Consumer driven
> Aimed at developing and supporting highly qualified teachers, administrators, and paraprofessionals
> Centered around high-quality, contentrich, teacher led staff development
